Why word count matters for content marketing
Every platform has a sweet spot. LinkedIn posts cap at 3,000 characters. Twitter / X gives you 280 characters per tweet. Instagram captions allow up to 2,200 characters, but engagement drops after 125. Meta descriptions work best between 155 and 160 characters for search snippets. Blog posts targeting competitive SEO keywords typically need 1,500 to 2,500 words to rank. Knowing your word and character count before you hit publish helps you stay within limits, avoid truncation and write tighter copy that performs better across channels.
