Work top to bottom. Each box is a concrete, do-it-today action. Hover a box to tick it mentally — or print this page and check them off as you go.

1. On-page SEO

  • Give every page a unique, descriptive title tag (~55–60 characters) with its primary keyword.
  • Write a compelling meta description (~150–160 characters) — it's your ad in the results.
  • Use exactly one H1 per page, and structure the rest with H2/H3 headings.
  • Answer the core question in the first two sentences (helps SEO and AI citation).
  • Add internal links to related pages with descriptive anchor text.
  • Use descriptive, keyword-aware image alt text on every image.
  • Keep one clear primary keyword per page — don't cannibalise.

2. Technical SEO

  • Pass Core Web Vitals — test with PageSpeed Insights and fix what's red.
  • Be genuinely mobile-friendly — test on a real phone.
  • Serve everything over HTTPS with a valid certificate.
  • Use clean, readable URLs (e.g. /local-seo-pune).
  • Publish an XML sitemap and a sensible robots.txt.
  • Verify the site and submit your sitemap in Google Search Console.
  • Fix broken links and 404s; redirect anything moved.

3. Local SEO

  • Claim and fully complete your Google Business Profile — every field.
  • Choose the most specific primary category, plus relevant secondary ones.
  • Keep NAP (name, address, phone) identical across every directory.
  • Build a steady flow of reviews and reply to every one.
  • Add fresh, real photos monthly.
  • Add LocalBusiness schema with your address and geo-coordinates.

4. GEO — get cited by AI

  • Add FAQ sections with clear, self-contained, quotable answers.
  • Implement FAQ, Article and Organization schema markup.
  • Publish author bios with real credentials (E-E-A-T).
  • Allow AI crawlers in robots.txt (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended).
  • Consider an llms.txt file for AI crawlers.
  • Earn brand mentions across reputable sites — being talked about influences whether AI surfaces you.
  • Keep cornerstone pages fresh and factual.
The businesses that win in 2026 are findable by search engines and citable by AI. Clear structure, real authority, and consistent presence across the web are the through-line.
